A century of inheritance, ingenious manufacturing
 
On January 19, 1920, the Japanese ambassador to Beijing formally sent a note to the Beijing government, proposing that the Shandong issue should be directly negotiated between China and Japan in order to achieve its goal of seizing Shandong, which caused people from all walks of life across the country to rise up in resistance.
 
In order to save the country through industry and boycott Japanese goods, Mr. Teng Huchen, a national entrepreneur, joined five other people to raise 3,000 yuan in capital, rented several houses on Dongguan Street in Weixian as factory buildings, and founded a factory, taking "China" and “abundant” as the meaning of Huafeng Machinery Factory Co., Ltd.

Historically, Weifang's handicraft industry was very developed. In the late Qing Dynasty, there was a saying among the people that "two hundred flaming furnaces, three thousand coppersmiths, nine thousand embroiderers, and one hundred thousand looms", and it enjoyed the reputation of "Suzhou in the south and Weixian in the north".
 

In 1928, workers had to sign a contract before entering the factory, and they had to find two wealthy and reliable families as guarantors. The apprenticeship period was four years, with food and accommodation provided, and a monthly salary of one yuan and forty cents. When the apprentice passed the exam, he would be given a graduation certificate. If he left the factory midway, he had to compensate for the meal money from the day he entered the factory. After the apprentice, the monthly salary was six yuan, and at the end of the year, dividends were distributed according to the length of service and the quality of work. These regulations were unprecedented at the time. During the 18 years since the establishment of the factory, the first batch of technical backbones for China's national industry were trained.

 
In 1932, after careful research and repeated tests, the first 15-horsepower diesel engine was successfully copied, which was also the first diesel engine produced in North China. Huafeng's production and operation developed day by day, and it was reorganized into Huafeng Machinery Co., Ltd. in 1936.
 
After several vicissitudes and hardships. The factory has developed from a few simple factory workshops to the "North China Huafeng Machinery Factory" and "the first factory north of the Yangtze River" before liberation.
 
In 1951, the engine industry first applied for a trademark, namely the "Huafeng" trademark.
 
From year to year, every generation of Huafeng's workers and masters has left a lifetime of high spirits.
 
Master of manufacturing makes iron tree bloom
 
In 1954, Huafeng Factory was jointly operated by the public and private sectors.
 
In 1956, the 1140 type 12-horsepower horizontal single-cylinder medium-speed diesel engine was successfully trial-produced.
 
In 1957, the foundry workshop, test room, and distribution room were built, and the necessary production equipment and test instruments were purchased.

In the early 1960s, China encountered serious economic difficulties, and the government decided to implement the "eight-character policy" of "adjustment, consolidation, enrichment and improvement" to adjust the national economy. In order to adapt to the needs of social development under the new situation, Huafeng actively implemented industrial upgrading and transformed from trial production to design and manufacturing. Huafeng completed the first large-scale industrial upgrading in history.
 
In 1966, a 185F body processing automatic line was designed and manufactured. In 1971, the 495 type 50 horsepower diesel engine was successfully trial-produced, passed the appraisal and produced 202 units that year.
 
After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Weifang City conscientiously implemented the policy of adjusting, reforming, rectifying and improving the national economy, and industrial production has developed rapidly. A number of influential domestic enterprises with the prefix "Wei" such as Wei Cotton, Weichai, Shanwei Tractor, Weifang Huaguang, and a large number of key products such as diesel engines, laser typesetting, tape recorders, tractors, and agricultural tricycles have reached the international and domestic advanced levels in the 1980s, and enjoy the reputation of "City of Power , City of Electronic, City of Textile, and City of Agricultural Machinery ".
 
During this period, Huafeng Machinery and British Ricardo Consulting Engineers Co., Ltd. jointly developed the "R series diesel engine" and completed the ministerial-level appraisal of three models of R6100 diesel engines. The power and economic indicators of domestic prototypes reached the advanced level of similar foreign products in the 1980s. In 1986, the R series diesel engine won the national "Sixth Five-Year Plan" Science and Technology Research Award, was rated as an "energy-saving internal combustion engine product" by the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics, and was included in the national import substitution product.
At the same time, two major changes have taken place in China economic development: one is that the socialist market economy has replaced the planned economy; the other is that the single public ownership economy has been replaced by the public ownership economy with the common development of multiple economies.
 
In 1988, in order to further improve quality, Huafeng Machinery Factory joined more than 200 parts suppliers to jointly participate in the research and development of new products, important markets and established a core supplier system.
 
In 1993, with a total investment of more than 30 million yuan, a casting high-pressure molding line and two engine body and cylinder head processing lines were built, and product quality was improved.
 
In the 1990s, automobile industry in China had just started. From 1991 to 1994, it was also the fastest period of industrial economic development in Weifang after the founding of New China in 1949, and the industrial growth rate remained above 20%. During this period, Weifang took the lead in the country to propose the reform idea of "grasping large and letting go of small", and began the reform of the state-owned enterprise system throughout the city.
 
In 1994, the Weifang Municipal People's Government decided that Huafeng Machinery Factory would be incorporated into Tongxin Group-Weifang Diesel Engine Factory and renamed "Weifang Diesel Engine Factory Second Engine Factory".
 
Excellent development makes a monument to the engine industry
 
From 2002 to 2007, Weifang's industry entered a period of rapid growth. According to the national investment promotion policy, the second engine plant of Weifang Diesel Engine Factory was restructured in 2004 and Shandong Weichai Huafeng Power Co., Ltd. was established.
"The whole party focuses on the economy, industry, investment, and highlights investment promotion." In 2005, the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government focused on the strategic priorities of industrial strengthening, expanding opening up, and private economy.
 
It was also in this year that Power HF cooperated with John Deere, a Fortune 500 company in the United States, and won the title of "Excellent Supplier" many times. Immediately afterwards, in 2007, Power HF provided nearly 40,000 mobile communication generators to Reliance, a Fortune 500 company in India, setting an industry record for the year.
From then on, while continuously improving its independent research and development level, Power HF has carried out extensive cooperative research and development with first-class scientific research institutions at home and abroad, such as Shanghai Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute, Shandong Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute, Jiangsu University, India ARAI Automation Testing Center, Southwest Research Institute of the United States, and Czech Alkoda Design Institute, forming a production, learning, and research and development model that combines independent research and development with cooperative research and development.

As one of the "leading enterprises in China's internal combustion engine industry", Power HF insists on technology and model innovation. Its business has extended from the research and development, production and sales of single diesel engines and intelligent generator sets to the upstream core parts business of diesel engines, and downstream to the comprehensive operation and maintenance service business of power facilities such as communication base station generator sets, forming a good business model of mutual support and coordinated development.
 
In 2016, Power HF Myanmar Company was established, successfully expanding the experience and operation model of providing operation and maintenance services in India to Myanmar. In 2017, Power HF continued to deepen its core parts business and invested hundreds of millions of yuan to build a production line for national VI high-power and lightweight engine cylinder blocks and cylinder heads.
 
In 2019, the company invested 600 million yuan to build an intelligent manufacturing workshop to expand the production capacity of core parts, and the level of intelligent manufacturing was further improved. In the same year, Power HF successfully won the bid for the generator project of China Unicom Langfang Data Center, marking our intelligent generator set products officially entered the data center field.
After a century of development and change, Power HF has always adhered to the development direction of specialization and internationalization, and has built a pattern of "manufacturing + service".
